Learn about ways to improve your happiness and overall well being
The past 15 years have seen an increased interest in a different aspect of Psychology.
This different approach to Psychology, is called Positive Psychology. The goal of this newer approach is to help people improve their well-being even more. In other words, to stimulate ‘flourishing’.
The idea is not to just feel 'okay' about your life, but to help you improve your overall mental health and to experience even more positive emotions and happiness. Research has shown that happiness is determined by different aspects, which can be categorized into 3 concepts. Firstly, 50% of your happiness is genetically determined.
So, a big part is determined by your DNA. A second, much smaller part, is the 10% of your happiness that are determined by (external) life circumstances, such as income.
The other 40% is determined by your own actions, thoughts and the activities you choose to partake in and spend time and energy on (Sheldon & Lyubomirsky, 2019, p. 1).

The goal of this website is to give young adults the tools to start their journey into personal development and introducing them to multiple different ways to enhance their well-being. We wanted to give YOU an usable form of Positive Psychology to improve your well-being.

Bart
Nice to meet you! My name is Bart Spils and I’m a Dutch Biomolecular Research student at the Hogeschool Utrecht. For the last semester of 2019 - 2020 I chose to follow a psychology minor instead of a biology minor. As I have always been interested in understanding the human brain and to maybe find connection points between psychology and biology. Positive Psychology was something entirely new for me and I had no idea what to expect from it. Over the last couple of months it has inspired me to think a bit differently and look at things in a more open minded way.
I’ll give you some more information about myself so that you can know me a bit better.
In my spare time I enjoy going to the gym to workout, practising for Judo Competitions in my local dojo and gardening in my vegetable garden. I hope that this website will help you find the support that you need for your personal development. The most important thing is that you have fun with the exercises. Don’t look at them with a feeling of obligation, but with a feeling of interest. Good luck!

Elfi
I’m Elfi Rudolph, currently studying transnational Social Work at the FRA UAS in Frankfurt. As part of this bachelor I am studying abroad at the AUAS in Amsterdam for one semester. I decided to study positive psychology to learn more about wellbeing as well as spirituality. Now as this minor program has almost come to an end I am very thankful for being able to participate and experience the changes in me and my everyday life. With this website I would like to help others to improve their overall wellbeing through establishing new healthy habits or food for thought.

Lisa
My name is Lisa van Slooten and I’m currently in the fourth year of studying Applied Psychology at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam,I’m following a minor in positive psychology right now. My eventual goal is to become a personal counselor for children, to help them find their way through life and their personality. I am really interested in the theory and practice of self reflection and to see what effects this has on someone's personal development.I hope this will give you the opportunity to learn more about this from our assignments.

Lotte
Hi! My name is Lotte Moize de Chateleux and I am an Applied Psychology student at the University of Applied Sciences in Amsterdam. What interests me most about Psychology is that it is something that everyone is a part of and can be found everywhere. The way we behave, the way we socialize with others but also the way we feel can be explained or examined through Psychology. A lot of our behaviour happens subconsciously and we aren’t even aware. And the great thing about Psychology is that it is constantly evolving, and people are starting to realize that there is more to Psychology then just the traditional form that focuses on depression and anxiety. Positive Psychology is a way to make people’s lives even better and help people become the best versions of themselves. Experiencing the Positive Psychology minor has opened my eyes in many ways and I’ve grown so much just by doing exercises created within the Positive Psychology field. That is why I want to YOU the opportunity to experience this side of Psychology and give you a way to implement this in your own life and improve your well-being. I hope you have a wonderful journey!

Thanks to this studies, I realized that I want to combine my interest in positive psychology and meditation with my future position in the field of social work. With this intervention, I hope that YOU experience all the positive effects of positive psychology and maybe implement these in your life.
